Shoes: Women's Guilty Pleasure

from Christian Louboutin

Every woman adores shoes. Whether it’s a pair of stilettos, plumps, boots, sneakers, or flats, women would surely find the most creative excuse to lay their hands on these beautiful creations. I have no idea who the inventor of shoes is although Wikipedia states that it has been used by people since 5000 years ago; but just like what I suggested to do with the creators of white V-neck shirts and wifebeaters, we need to pay tribute to the genius.

Shoes are items that are needed to protect the feet. It varies in terms of style and function, and is now hailed as one of the prime allies of fashion. No one can say no to a pair of good and beautiful shoes.

Some may not understand; but what’s so great about shoes is that it conveys messages without the need for language. After all, the pair of shoes is the language itself. Depending on the style and design, it could speak of various emotions. Tranquility, hatred, desire – all these could be shown by wearing the right kinds of footwear. Shoes, like dress, states what kind of mood the wearer has.

But making a statement is not the only things shoes could do. Another thing I find exemplary about these creations is that it magically boosts the self-confidence of anyone who wears it. Christian Louboutin once said that ‘shoes transform your body language and attitude. They lift you physically and emotionally,’ and I believe him. I think we all should.

Shoes vary, as implied earlier in the post. Each has a defining characteristic that makes it unique among all others. Every style, every color, and even the height of its heels have something to say – something that embodies the personality of the person who wears it.

Yes. Putting it simply, shoes can create an identity. This, perhaps, is the most important role of these fashion inventions. It defines a person. It establishes an impression. It tells the world who its wearer is. It is indeed an integral ally of all other factors like apparels, accessories and make-up in creating a trademark for a certain individual.

But of course, balance should apply. What’s the use of wearing glamorous plumps if you don’t know how to walk on it? Practice makes perfect; but to practice well, start on the lower ones. Or perhaps one could use wedges or platform shoes first, before moving on with stilettos. You see, like clothes, shoes need to be justified. That’s the least people could do to give back to these wonders.

That is why it is undoubtedly of great importance to be very careful when choosing your pair of shoes. Whenever I shop, I always bear in mind what I learned from Meteor Garden: “Beautiful shoes bring you to beautiful places.” It is an essential thought which, I believe, every person must remember. Don’t worry. You will know which shoes are “beautiful” because it will call you and draw you to it. Believe me.

Just one important reminder though. Shoes may create an identity but what it will produce is entirely dependent on what kind of personality you want to have. You need to know your style first, and then find the shoes which will help you polish it.

So good luck in choosing your shoes! If ever you want to flaunt your style, don’t forget to share it with us, okay?
