London Fashion Week Interview: Yu:l&Me

Coordi Nuna has had the pleasure to be able to interview the designers from the up and coming fashion label Yu:l&Me. Yu:l&Me is a newly launched label by CEO of fashion consulting company mottoel, Rami Joo and independent designer, Yu:l Seo. By combining years of experience, with their passion and knowledge of the fashion industry. Rami Joo and Yu:l Seo unite to create the contemporary brand Yu:l&Me.

Yu:l&Me S/S 2012 Collection 

What type of girl does your collection appeal to?
The designs are targeted for people who are looking for a garment which they can wear in a place like party, event and awards ceremony.
What was the starting point for the collection?
Rami Joo is a designer and CEO of her own fashion company called mottoel who used to run a consulting company for 8 years of period before she got into the fashion industry, which she has a great passion in developing the fashion and art business. Yul Seo is an independent designer who has collaborated with Rami Joo for this collection and their motto of the design was 'fun design' capturing the essence of amusement in music and fashion.

Where do you find inspiration for a collection?

We find motives from natural science and general part of art in photography, architecture, movies and music.

What's the must have item from your collection?
Rider jacket which everybody can wear in the summer also with short pants as a set, made from a special fabric used to make a traditional dress, Hanbok which is breathable and wrinkle-resistant

Of all the items you've created, do you have a favorite?

An evening dress which are made from silk, influenced by traditional Korean dress called, Hanbok with modernized pattern we have redesigned to make a new look that can lead the traditional dress to another level.

 What do you like most about fall fashion and what item do you think each girl should have in her closet?
Trench coat which can express elegance look with the atmosphere of the fall, which we also have made using some unique fabrics and patterns. 

How would you sum up the collection?
The collection from Yu:l&Me has a strong tendency to produce Haute Couture lines with a characteristic of unisex designs, creating mixed harmony by capturing essence between traditional and modern designs that can also be freely blend with characteristics of east and west culture.

What an interesting Spring collection, I love how the took  traditional Korean clothing and mixed it with more modern designs. If I had to pick one item from this collection that I really liked, it would have to be the Hanbok fabric Rider jacket. It looks so light but has an edgy touch, .
